Violence Prevention is a mindset.

It means being pro-active and  anticipating potential risks before they happen by recognizing attack  pre-cursors and issuing timely alerts. To prevent violence, we must remain focused on identifying people with violent intentions, not understanding them!

Remember appearances may be misleading…

DO NOT focus on WHO: age, appearance, race, ethnicity, nationality,  gender, language, or religion.

Instead pay attention to WHAT: behaviors and circumstances.

You can only identify a threat by observing or hearing about  suspicious activity. Pre-conceived notions, stereotyping and assumption are dangerously misleading. Avoid generalization and assess each threat separately.

Your suspicions will need to be based on:

  • Judgment

  • Experience

  • Common sense
